PG program (M. Plan) with specialization in “Urban Planning” was started in 2018 with an intake of 18 students and thus the department became a research center under APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University by default.

The Program prepares students to

PEO 1

Engage and participate in research in the urban planning domain to test and evaluate innovations and best practices in the field.

PEO 2

Exhibit a strong passion for urban and regional planning, addressing social, cultural and environmental challenges through self-directed professional development, participation in professional bodies, collaborations with stakeholders and community involvement.

PEO 3

Demonstrate strong interpersonal ability, communication skills, leadership qualities to express creative and independent solutions with high regard to professionalism and ethical behaviour.


Graduates of M.Planning Program will be able to:

PSO1

Take up the role of an urban planner in shaping the built environment and urban spaces following methods and best practices by which the planning process integrates various sectors for a sustainable development of cities.

PSO2

Make decisive decisions within planning projects while incorporating the regulatory requirements, spatial characteristics, community and their quality of life, policies and legislations and considerations of the social, economic and environmental impacts of their decisions.

PSO3

Comprehend leadership in multidisciplinary teams, diverse stakeholder constituents, and dynamic physical and social contexts and apply effective collaboration skills to solve complex problems.

PSO4

Have in-depth understanding of diverse cultural and social contexts and translate that understanding into the urban and regional settings that equitably supports and includes people of different backgrounds, resources and abilities.


Outcomes defined by NBA

PO1 :

An ability to independently and collectively carry out research/investigation and development work to solve practical problems.

PO2 : An ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document.

PO3 :

Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program.

Apply stream knowledge to design or develop solutions for real world problems by following standards and legislations

Use state-of-the-art tool in solving spatial planning and environmental problems.

Independently carryout stream related project with efficiency and financial outlook, highlighting business-potential which focus on Entrepreneurship and Industry relevance
