Introduction

The Department of Architecture TKMCE is the largest research centre in Architecture under KTU in terms of opportunities, facilities and number of research scholars. It is capable of doing research in almost every field of Architecture and seek out to develop human knowledge through investigations, innovations and insight. The department is having well equipped laboratories to carry out researches on Passive Environment Control Systems, Thermal Comfort, Acoustics, Lighting, Cement based Technology and Non-Destructive Testing. It has a good library with more than 6000 books, journals and Online resources. In addition, the department has good infrastructure amenities for the research scholars equipped with private cabins, computer labs and reprographic facilities. Good quality papers have been published by the faculty members and research scholars in different refereed journals of international reputation. In additions to the mandatory course works prescribed by the KTU and the course works available along with PG courses, the department is offering fifteen Ph D level courses on different areas of research, approved by the KTU for the knowledge enhancement of the scholars.


Affiliations

The Research Centre at Department of Architecture, TKMCE is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University. In addition, the department is providing research opportunities under Kerala University in Architecture and allied fields.


Eligibility

Post graduates in Architecture, Allied areas of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Planning are eligible for admission to Ph D programme under KTU. In addition, other post graduate candidates capable of doing research in allied areas of Architecture are also eligible for admission. The minimum marks/CGPA and relaxations are as per KTU norms.


Admission

The Ph D admissions will be done twice (July and December) every year through KTU entrance examination and interviews.
