The student admission policy will remain unchanged with respect to what was in practice before grant of autonomy. This is in accordance with an agreement to the state government as a condition for academic autonomy. The prevailing policy is elaborated below.

Eligibility conditions
M.Tech
For M.Tech (Government Aided), eligibility is a B.Tech degree in the respective branch. Candidates with a valid GATE score are eligible for scholarship. For M.Tech (Self-financing), 50% of seats are filled from the DTE rank list and 50% under management quota from among eligible candidates.
MCA
Minimum qualification as per University norms: pass with 50% marks in a 3-year degree with Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Computer Application/Engineering and Technology as main or subsidiary (45% for SEBC and Physically Handicapped; minimum pass for SC/ST). Admission to merit seats is through Centralized Allotment Process by the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology Thiruvananthapuram.
