IDEA LAB

IDEA Lab is an innovative and promising initiative rolled out by All India Council for Technical Education to transform technical education by empowering young minds with cutting-edge tools, processes, and skills. T K M C E is one among the 49 institutes selected pan India in phase I on a 50 : 50 cost sharing basis. The project has a sanctioned funding of 82 lakhs. On account of the allied infrastructure development the overall project cost incurred is 1 crore.

About IDEA Lab

AICTE establishes IDEA (Idea Development Evaluation and Application) lab in AICTE approved institutions, encouraging students for application of science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) fundamentals towards enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing and even product visualization. As a common facility embedded in the institution, the IDEA Lab will make engineering graduates more imaginative and creative, besides getting basic training in the 21st century skills like critical thinking, problem solving, design thinking, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning etc. IDEA Lab can facilitate the students and faculty to "engage, explore, experience, express and excel" as desired by the Hon'ble Prime Minister in the wake of release of National Education Policy 2020.

Vision

  • A Center of Excellence in Digital fabrication, where the creativity of students blossoms into innovative ideas and then evaluated-developed-tested for the greater good of the society.
  • Customized manufacturing to support prototyping of products developed by startups incubated by Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development cell and Institute Innovation Council (IIC) of the college.
  • Act as hub to promote the concept of open hardware within the institution and in the local community at a larger scale.
  • The IDEA lab will act as a nodal Centre to educate and promote personalized manufacturing for prototyping and entrepreneurship in the local community.
  • To motivate the students to come up with smart innovative ideas and also provides a platform to materialize the idea through the process of product development.
  • To provide lab facilities to the students of neighbouring educational institutions.
