This apparatus consists of a Travelling microscope, an arrangement for the formation of Newton's Rings (plano convex lens on plane glass plate), and Sodium vapour lamp. The wavelength of light from sodium vapour lamp is measured using this apparatus. This works on the principle of Thin Film Interference. We can also find the refractive index of a liquid using this arrangement. There are two units of this apparatus.
The apparatus consists of two optically plane glass plates, thin wire, Sodium vapour lamp and a Travelling microscope. A thin wire whose diameter is to be determined is kept as the spacer between the two glass plates. We can find the diameter of the thin wire using air wedge arrangement. This is an application of Thin Film Interference. Using a thin film of known thickness, we can find an unknown wavelength. There is one unit of this apparatus.
