DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) started in the year 1977 is a center of excellence dedicated to providing quality education, innovative research, and industry-oriented training in the rapidly evolving fields of electronics, communication, and emerging technologies. Since its inception, the department has been committed to developing skilled professionals capable of contributing to technological advancements and societal development. The department offers a dynamic learning environment supported by experienced faculty members, modern laboratories, advanced computing facilities, and strong industry-academia collaborations. The curriculum is carefully designed to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation and extensive practical exposure in areas such as Communication Systems, Embedded Systems, VLSI Design, Signal Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), and Industrial Automation. The Department is a beneficiary of the prestigious Chip-to-Startup (C2S) Programme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Through this initiative, students and researchers gain access to industry-standard semiconductor design tools including Cadence, Xilinx Vivado, Mentor Graphics, and Synopsys, facilitating advanced learning and research in VLSI and chip design technologies. The department houses several specialized centers and laboratories, including the Drone Applications and Robotics Center (DARC), the Industry-Supported Biomedical Engineering Research Laboratory(BERL), and the Industrial Automation Laboratory. These facilities provide students with opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary research, product development, innovation, and hands-on learning aligned with current industry requirements. The department maintains active collaborations with renowned institutions such as IIT Palakkad, Digital University Kerala, and IIST, as well as industry partners including Tata Elxsi and the Airports Authority of India (AAI). These collaborations facilitate research projects, internships, skill development programs, industrial training, and technology transfer activities. The alumni of the department are spread across the globe and are employed in leading multinational companies such as Intel Corporation, Analog Devices, Inc., Samsung Electronics, Qualcomm, Broadcom Inc., both in India and abroad. In addition, many alumni hold prestigious positions in various Central and State Government institutions including ISRO, VSSC,IIT’s etc contributing significantly to public service, research, administration, and technological development. Welcome to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the most prestigious and vibrant departments of our Institution, committed to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and industry engagement. With a dedicated team of faculty members, state-of-the-art laboratories, and a student-centric learning environment, the department strives to produce competent engineers capable of addressing the technological challenges of a rapidly evolving world. Our academic programs are designed to provide a strong foundation in Electronics, Communication Engineering, VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Industrial Automation. The department continuously upgrades its curriculum, infrastructure, and research ecosystem to align with global technological advancements and industry requirements. Our Industry-Supported Biomedical Engineering Research Laboratory (BERL) facilitates interdisciplinary research in healthcare technologies and medical instrumentation, while the Industrial Automation Laboratory equips students with practical expertise in PLCs, industrial control systems, IoT-enabled manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies. To enrich the academic and research experience of our students, the department has established strong collaborations with premier academic institutions and leading industries. Our partnerships with IIT Palakkad, Digital University Kerala, and IIST provide opportunities for collaborative research, faculty development, student projects, internships, and knowledge exchange.
